I have problem z SMG Brightmail. The SMG began sending all emails as an attachement. We do not change anything.
The emails sends to gmaul looks like:
empty email plus message from email in the file noname.eml
Any suggestion ?

SMG 10.5.3-4 and virus messages
I need a solution
We use Symantec Messaging Gateway ver. 10.5.3-4 for inbound and outbound email filtering. We run MS Exchange 2010 with Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange realtime scan. From time to time Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange realtime scan detects virus that has gone through SMG without having been stopped. Last month this has happened 10-15 times. In the same period, SMG stopped seven viruses. Detection rate is not very impressive really. What can be done for this to be better? Many of the viruses that are not detected is .scr files or .exe files in zip files.

Is communication between Control Center and Scanners in real-time?
I need a solution
Hello comunity.
I need to appologise about subject, I know, that there is real-time communication between components of Messaging Gateway. Iam using and configuring it every day, but I need a proof in form of a document or at least symantec employe validation. We are participating a public tender and (potential) customer want real-time sharing data between components (logs about passed emails, real-time application of changes). Thats ok, we can do it, but I need a proof for evaluation.
Is there anything like this? Can symantec employ confirm?

End-User Good Senders

Hello,
An end-user specified a certain sender as a good sender from his own quarantine a while ago (replication is not an issue).
When this user receives a new email from this sender, the Message Audit Log displays the following:

We are using SMG 10.5.2-3 and we had scheduled daily backup once in a day but we are not getting email notification that either backup os completed sucesfully or not.
My question is there any way that we can get Email once backup completed.

Symantec Messaging Gateway Mail Flow Error
I need a solution
Dears,
I have a problem with the inbound mail flow after i have installed SMG virtual Appliance.
i have an Exchange Mailing Servers 2013 with 2 mailbox and 2 CAS servers with Microsoft Network load balance between the 2 CAS Servers.
when i change the nating rule on the firewall to forward traffic to inbound interface of the SMG and try to send an email form an external mail server to my Exchange i got this error
error transferring to mail.*****.com; SMTP Protocol Returned a Permanent Error 554 5.1.2 Recipient address rejected: User unknown (Transfer failures occur when there is a transient connection failure between the servers)
any help ?

Why that happening during the non-business hours?
the VM specification is 4x vCPU and 4 GB of vRAM
VMware vSphere console show the average weekly usage pattern is averaging 38% and the maximum is 43% and anything Swapped In/Out are all 0
So, clearly there is no problem at the Hypervisor layer or VM specification.

Can anyone provide me the steps to upgrade the version of SMG from 10.5.2-3 to 10.5.3-4.
As i am getting e-mail regularly that new virus filter is available for my host. In Control Center it is showing "AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD"
how much downtime is require to upgrade the software and what is the rollback plan in case of any issue during upgrade.

SMG and Submit Messages

Hi,
I have SMG 10.5.3-4 and problem with spam.
Some emails all the time goes to SPAM Quarantaine. I added this email addresses and domains to Good Senders (Local Good Sender Domains and Local Good Sender IPs) but this emails still getting to quarantinne.
I enable Costumer-specyfic Spam Submission but form me this is not working, because still the same mails getting as spam.
Please give me a hint how to resolve this problem

Hi All,
I'm a new of Symantec Messaging Gateway.
There is on my appliance, an email pending. It is not sent to destination, reporting this error:

All other email are fine, no other errors. So I suppose that the problem in on the destination side.
I'm right ?? There is something that I can do from my side ?

Upgrade Symantec Brightmail Gateway
I need a solution
Hi,
I run SBG on 8360 appliances (1 cc + 2 scanners). The actual version of SBG is 8.0.2. I have some problems with bmserver jobs. I thing that I must upgrade my appliances. When I read documentations, I find that I must stop mail flow. My question is : why ? I'm agree if I'm upgrading a scanner (I stop incoming mails on this particular scanner) but for cc or the another scanner ?
Can you help me ?

Upgrade SMG via command line

Dear Community,
I just like to ask you to help me to find the best method to upgrade my SMG using SSH.
Firs I need to shout down scanners and after that I could update the CC?
I don't really find any usable method, only the command line references. So I started to make a list, but I need some comfirmation of you.
So let's get started:
On the CC:
update download
When the download it's done, I can run the installation:
update install (--version xx.x.x-x)
After that I could upgrade the scanners?
After log in to the scanners and I need to use again the "update download" command or I can start the upgrade with the "update install"?

Dear All,
We have scenerio where symantec messaging gateway needs to filter and send email on local premises to sms server installed on local premises
enviroment
exchange 2010 sp2
messaging gateway -10.5-3
sms server centos 7
we have existing email server setup running with messaging gateway .all the email are going perfectly.
We want to minimize the area of failure whereas the final decision is to forward the emails from GATEWAY to SMS OTS server which is 192.168.x.x
the email which needs to be converted to sms will be receive by sms server
e.g if email send from @abc.com domain by using DNS feature it shuold resolve to local sms server on the basis of filtering by domain name messaging gateway how ot crate rule or setting please adivce
